Humboldt County Office of Education: Trades Academy and Family Maker Night

Trades Academy and Family Maker Night

Trades Academy and Family Maker Night

The Trades Academy Mobile Trades Lab battled the rain at Morris Elementary School for a fun evening with Family Maker Night on Thursday, January 17th. Family Maker Nights take place on the third Thursday of every month and offer hands-on activities that incorporate the elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) with the opportunity for family exploration, collaboration, and creativity – which coincides perfectly with the mission of the Mobile Trades Lab. McKinleyville High School’s Industrial Technology Club worked young students making rockets. Students were able to build their rockets in the mobile lab and later were able to launch the rockets way up into the evening sky.

Typically we write about how our industry partners helped us and volunteered with the high school students, but today we are so thankful for the McKinleyville High School students of the Industrial Technology Club. It is always so rewarding to see students step up and volunteer their time to inspire the future makers.
