Humboldt County Office of Education: Eureka High Students Visit Harper Motors

Eureka High Students Visit Harper Motors

Eureka High Students Visit Harper Motors

This week, students from Eureka High School’s Automotive Technology class gained the unique experience of a tour of the Service Department at Harper Motors.  Service Manager, Robert Barrera, provided an excellent tour that lead the students through the service and repair area.  As they were given the tour, the students learned about career opportunities in automotive service and repair, training options, and the need for younger individuals getting into the field.  They also learned about the complexity of the modern vehicle, how technicians move up in the company, and how the shop operates.  The tour included students hearing from Eureka High School alumni: Shop Manager Bill Pleasant, a highly experienced technician Chris Mills, a diesel technician Tim Brogan, and Andrew Altic, a technician who is currently attending College Of The Redwoods’ Automotive Technology program.  The Harvey Harper Automotive Technology Scholarship was also brought to the students’ attention.  Students were inspired by the experience and were told to come back by if they had any questions.

We would like to thank Harper Motors and their staff for providing the Eureka High School students with the tour and educating them with future career options.
