Induction Program Information for Preliminary Credential Holders

Program Overview

HCOE partners with Riverside COE’s Center for Teacher Innovation (CTI) to provide a comprehensive induction program. The program supports educators through job-embedded inquiry cycles aligned with California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Participants work with high-impact reflective coaches to develop inclusive, dynamic classrooms through personalized, self-directed, and technology-infused pathways to earn a California Clear Credential.

Candidate Eligibility

Available Clear Credentials

  • General Education (Multiple or Single Subject)
  • Education Specialist (Mild-Moderate Support Needs, Extensive Support Needs, Visually Impaired, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, or Early Childhood)

Requirements

  • Hold a valid California Preliminary Teaching Credential requiring Teacher Induction completion
  • Currently employed as “teacher of record” (part-time or full-time)

Reflective Coach Requirements

  • Clear Teaching Credential
  • Minimum 3 years effective teaching experience on Clear credential
  • Knowledge of mentee’s content area and current public school context
  • Flexibility to meet mentee support needs

Enrollment Periods

  • Fall Program (Traditional): August – June
    Enrollment: March 1 – October 31
  • Spring Program (Mid-year): January – December
    Enrollment: December 1 – February 28

Registration Process

Step One: Complete the Interest Form

All participants must complete the appropriate form based on their role:

Step Two: Enroll in CTI

After submitting your Interest Form you will receive an initial email from the Center for Teacher Innovation (CTI) with instructions to enroll in the program.

Step Three: Register for Trainings

After enrolling, you will receive a second email from CTI with details on registering for required training sessions.

Required Trainings
  • Coach Preview Session: All Coaches must attend before Orientation.
  • Orientation Session: Required for both Candidates and Mentors.

To help you and your Induction Partner plan your schedules, please refer to the training calendar. There are two meeting dates for each training. Choose only one for each type of training.

Professional Development Units

Professional development units are available to both candidates and coaches upon completion of the Induction program.

Important: Employers reserve the right to designate whether these units meet their requirements for salary advancement. It is strongly recommended that you confirm your eligibility with your Local Educational Agency (LEA) before registering for these units.
