Cal-SOAP Success Coaches
Cal-SOAP Success Coaches work with school counselors to support students through the financial aid and college admission processes and raise awareness of financial aid and college eligibility requirements. Success Coaches keep students informed of their progress and prepared to take their next step towards successful, affordable postsecondary education.
Through the College Success Coaches, students will have access to:
- Financial aid and college access information presented through a combination of group workshops, information campaigns, and one-on-one advising sessions
- Direct support for FAFSA/CADAA applications and creation of FSA ID and their Webgrants4Students account
- Financial Aid Offer Letter interpretation and college affordability assessment
- Information about college application and enrollment timelines, deadlines, and eligibility requirements
- College and scholarship application support
- Progress reports informing them of where they are in the financial aid and college admissions processes and what their next steps should be
Meet Our Success Coaches
Ethan Ladd
Alder Grove Charter
Ethan attends Cal Poly Humboldt with a dance major and kinesiology minor. His career goal is to be at a professional ballet company and in his free time, he enjoys roller skating.
Liam Gawthorne
Arcata High & Six Rivers Charter
Liam attends Cal Poly Humboldt studying philosophy. He was born and raised in Rocklin, with a goal of becoming a lawyer. He enjoys biking and backpacking, and went skydiving in the summer of 2023.
Maia Miglio
Arcata High
Maia attends Cal Poly Humboldt studying psychology and child development. She grew up in Fairfax and enjoys dancing, sailing, surfing, and art. She aims to become a therapist or child psychologist.
Rachel Moszkowicz
Arcata High
Rachel is a graduate student at Cal Poly Humboldt in the Environment and Community masters program. She grew up in Northridge, CA and her career goal is to be a climate justice educator. She loves to read, write poetry, and will turn any floor into a dance floor!
Audri Penaloza
Cal Poly Humboldt Financial Aid
Audri’s in the graduate Applied English program at Cal Poly Humboldt. She plans to be a professor and open a publishing house. Audri loves to crotchet, read, and has two cats that look like Puss in Boots & Kitty Softpaws.
Brianna Chapman
Cal-SOAP Office
Brianna is pursuing a dual degree in Film Production & Business at Chapman University, with a career goal of becoming a film director. She grew up in Eureka and is passionate about the outdoors as an avid rock climber and backpacker.
Nathan Castanon
Eureka High
Nathan attends Arizona State as a sociology major and communications minor. He grew up in LA and enjoys baking and reading in his free time. A fun fact about Nathan is that he will graduate with a bachelors at 20 years old.
Madison Henderson
Eureka High
Madison grew up in Joshua Tree and studies political science at Cal Poly Humboldt as a first generation college student in her family. Her goal is to become a lawyer and she loves to read and watch movies.
Bryan Looney
Eureka High
Bryan studies Forestry Restoration at Cal Poly Humboldt, with the goal of working as a Park Ranger in a National Park. His hobbies include backpacking, hiking, camping, timber sports and skydiving.
Edrie Black
Fortuna High and South Fork High
Edrie attends Cal Poly Humboldt pursuing a criminal justice major. She grew up in Eureka and her goal is to work for Homeland Security. She enjoys watching movies and crafting.

Kyle attends Cal Poly Humboldt with a psychology major and philosophy minor. He grew up in Eureka and his career goal is to be a therapist. He enjoys hosting board game parties and loves cats.

Julie attends Cal Poly Humboldt as a psychology major, with a goal of working with children and adults with learning disabilities. She grew up in Sacramento and loves reading, gardening, and baking.

Penelope grew up in Redding and studies history at Cal Poly Humboldt. Her career goal is to help students go to college. She loves attending local live music events and has a large sticker collection.
