HESI (Health Career Exploration Summer Institute) is a free two-three week summer education program sponsored by HCOE’s Career and College Resource Department. It provides high school students (16-20 students) the opportunity to discover if they are interested in a healthcare career.
This program is vital to our community and to help keep students motivated to pursue careers in health care. As our current health care workforce is hurting, we hope students will return to the Humboldt County Workforce.
This year Sara Dixon will be the primary instructor. Sara is currently the Biology and Community Health Teacher at Fortuna High, and has been involved with HESI since the beginning.
Note: Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in the HESI Program.
Nightly homework is required as well as a final presentation to the hospital staff, school administration, teachers, family and friends.
You must be at least 16 years of age to participate.
