Humboldt County Office of Education: HCOE Residency Programs

Teacher Residency Department

Teacher residencies are paid, year‑long, clinically rich preparation programs that integrate coursework with mentored, in-class experience, developing “day one ready” teachers and counselors through strong partnerships among districts, universities, and communities.

The Statewide Residency Technical Assistance Center (SRTAC) is a collaborative, grant-funded initiative that provides coaching, resources, and technical assistance to strengthen, expand, and sustain teacher and counselor residency programs across California.

Through the Northern Hub, led by Humboldt County Office of Education, this work is localized to support rural and geographically dispersed districts by building partnerships, advancing grant-funded residencies, and providing tailored guidance to develop sustainable, community-based educator pipelines.

The HCOE Teacher Residency Program prepares Education Specialist teachers by partnering with Cal Poly Humboldt and regional districts to provide funded credentialing, mentored classroom experience, and a commitment to serve in local schools addressing workforce needs.
