Description
When students are more socially and emotionally aware it gives them the opportunity to see from another’s perspective and develop empathy for all living things. Familiarizing students with environmental topics through meaningful texts and imagery allows them to deepen their connection to the world. Techniques in the classroom for social emotional learning, written expression, art and collaborative discussions will be shared.
About the Presenter
Jen Code is a fourth grade teacher at Cutten Elementary School. She is currently a mentor for the ArtSEL program through HCOE and serves as a Teaching Coach for the Redwood Writing Project. Jen enjoys integrating her background in wildlife across the curriculum.
