Description
Participants will explore how implicit bias and the cylce of socialization play a role in our choices in books and curriculum. We will use a simple tool to analyze and improve our libraries.
About the Presenters
Sharrone is the lead for Equity and Inclusion for HCOE and coordinates and leads professional development dealing with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with students and staff in Humboldt County. She has been working in Education in Humboldt County for 8 years. She has been in Early Intervention working with students with special needs and their families for 15 years.
Nora has been a high school and middle school teacher since 1999. She is an instructor in the School of Education and in the Critical Race, Gender, Sexuality Studies program at Cal Poly Humboldt. She is also a Learning Specialist at HCOE. She serves students, teachers and leaders in our local schools. She leads professional development alongside Sharrone, dealing with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with students and staff in Humboldt County.
