AHS Student, Claire Monge, Gets Career Ready

Arcata High School student Claire Monge expressed an interest in careers in construction at the beginning of the year and our Regional Trades Education Liaison, Jack Sheppard made sure Claire was introduced to the right people to get her a step closer to making her dream a reality. Claire had the opportunity to spend a day shadowing various departments at Pacific Builders in Arcata. She started the day with a lesson in Project Management with their in-house Project Manager, Amber. Claire then went on a ride-along with the Project Supervisor, Pedro and they visited the various Pacific Builder projects throughout the region, which gave Claire a great idea of the various projects she could expect to one day manage. Claire is a shining example that careers in Trades are for women too! We are also so lucky to have women like Amber at Pacific Builders that provide inspiration to other girls hoping to break into the trades field. A huge thanks to Pedro, Amber, and the Pacific Builders team being so supportive of the Trades Academy efforts and in helping students find their place in Trades.
