School Staff and Fortuna PD Work Swiftly for Student Safety

(Fortuna) – This morning, a school safety incident occurred at the Eel River Community School campus. School staff and law enforcement from the Fortuna Police Department acted quickly to respond to the incident and ensure that all students and staff remained safe. A student who was allegedly in possession of a firearm was apprehended by the Fortuna Police Department before they entered school grounds. The student remains in custody. Safety is the number one priority of all staff and law enforcement. We are very grateful for the manner in which this incident was handled and contained.
