HCOE Celebrates Education Night at the Humboldt Crabs

ARCATA (June 26, 2025) – More than 200 educators and their families were at the Arcata Ball Park for the second annual Education Night with the Crabs on Tuesday.

The event kicked off with a group of educators from various schools in Humboldt County singing the National Anthem. The Humboldt County Teacher of the Year, Pamela Brittenburg-Andersen from Alice Birney Elementary, threw out the first pitch. Bat boys Bennett Moxon and Oliver Rivas were kept busy supporting the Crabs and the Chico Lone Wolves throughout the game.

Teacher of the Year Pamela Brittenburg-Andersen threw out the first pitch to Crabs catcher Liam Forsyth.

Humboldt County Office of Education cabinet members Michael Davies-Hughes, Superintendent; Colby Smart, Deputy Superintendent; and Ariel Aaron, Director of Human Resources served up BBQ hot dogs and vegan dogs.

It was fitting that the Crabs’ theme was Superheroes as we celebrate the educators who are the superheroes to our kids every day. And the Crabs beat the Lone Wolves 10-1 for a fitting end to a fun evening.
