Humboldt County Office of Education: County Begins Inviting Educators to Be Vaccinated

County Begins Inviting Educators to Be Vaccinated

Under Humboldt County’s Vaccination Plan, people working in education and childcare are part of Phase 1B, which began with people ages 75 and above. Tier 1 of Phase 1B also includes “those at risk of exposure at work in the following sectors: education, childcare, emergency services, and food and agriculture.”

The Humboldt County Office of Education has been working closely with Humboldt County Public Health to coordinate on vaccination efforts for educators. There are approximately 3,100 people in education in Humboldt County, and with HCOE’s help, Public Health has already identified and begun inviting approximately 1,000 in-person educators and support staff who work directly with students to sign up for vaccination appointments.

Additional invitations will be extended as vaccine and clinic capacity allows. As they become available, Public Health will communicate with HCOE, which will in turn work with districts to identify and notify individuals who qualify for an invitation. The county is hopeful that all 3,100 educators in Humboldt County will be invited for appointments at clinics by Feb. 12.

HCOE has created a web page where we plan to post as much information as possible about the process. The website also provides links to a number of different resources at the county, state, and federal levels.
