Redwood EdVentures – Day at the Arcata Ball Park!

Redwood EdVentures is collaborating with the Humboldt Crabs to dedicate a day at the ballpark to give the community an opportunity to experience a Crab Quest. This EdVenture will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018; gates open at 11:30 a.m. and the game starts at 12:30 p.m.

There will be a big “quest challenge” for children and their families to learn more about the Crabs and the history of baseball; all while supporting the Crabs as they go up against the Valley Bears. Tickets for the Crabs game are required to participate. The first 150 children to participate will get a special prize.

Redwood EdVentures Quests, which began in 2013, is a program that provides young people and their families’ opportunities to learn more about the region and its natural resources. The EdVenture Quests incorporate subjects such as history and science to create fun and engaging outdoor activities as they hike along the designated trails.

There are currently 23 quests spread throughout the north coast that have gained popularity from both locals and visitors from all over the country. According to the recorded quest prizes given out, Redwood EdVentures Quests have grown exponentially since its inception.

Some of the most popular Quests are in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Patrick’s Point State Park, and the Trillium Falls trail in Redwood National Park. New to the map are Redwood EdVentures on the Hikshari’ Trail and a second EdVenture on the Hikers Trail in Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park.

The Redwood Edventures program is brought to you by the Humboldt County Office of Education. The Redwood EdVentures Quests are made possible through our partnership with Redwood National and State Parks, Bureau of Land Management, Friends of the Dunes, Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Six Rivers National Forest Service, and the Cities of Arcata and Eureka Parks and Recreation Departments.

Redwood EdVentures is dedicated to show you how “nature is closer than you think” as it continues to grow the number of quests available. The Redwood EdVentures Day at the Ballpark will allow more families to become aware of this free, fun way to get active outdoors and enjoy our local trails.
