This training series introduces the Sora Reading App and invites educators to learn use digital reading tools to engage students and build a culture of reading. Participants will learn to use the Sora Reading App in the classroom, support diverse learners, and promote reading on and off campus. Sora Reading App is a free reading app for schools that gives students access to ebooks and audiobooks through HCOE’s digital library.

Participants will walk away with the ability to:

  • Navigate the Sora Reading App and use its key features and tools.
  • Use the Sora Reading App to engage readers and support diverse learners.
  • Promote the Sora Reading App and foster a culture of reading in their school community.

 

Session Information:

All sessions are on Wednesdays and will take place virtually from 4:00-5:30 pm.

  • Sept. 9, 2026 – Introduction to Sora: Learn the basics of the Sora experience including logging in, borrowing a title, and exploring Sora’s features and tools.
  • Nov. 4, 2026 – Leverage Sora in the Classroom: Dive deeper into how you can use Sora as a classroom learning tool to engage readers.
  • Dec. 16, 2026 – Sora for Every Learner: Learn how Sora supports and reflects your entire school community.
  • Mar. 3, 2027 – Promote Sora and a Culture of Reading: Discover practical tips and tricks for spreading the word about Sora throughout your school community.
  • May 5, 2027 – Putting it All Together with Sora: Leverage what you’ve learned in any of the previous sessions you’ve attended by completing short, hands-on activities to deepen your practical knowledge of Sora.
