Job Summary
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Learning Support Services Technician provides assistance to Learning Specialists’ professional development needs, as well as other department programming.
Distinguishing Characteristics
HERC employees must be available to work varied hours and days Monday through Saturday, depending on department needs. This position performs varied and increasingly responsible clerical work in support of department programming, including the design of multimedia communications, outreach, and materials.
Examples Of Duties
- Performs reception functions and offers assistance;
- Maintains and uses digital communication and databases;
- Takes inventories, prepares orders, restocks resale supplies for teacher store and workroom;
- Prepares charge accounts, transfers, invoices, and deposits;
- Assists and trains patrons to operate self-service workroom equipment;
- Designs multimedia communications and outreach materials;
- Maintains the listing and registration system for professional learning offerings;
- Manages the listing and registration system for professional learning offerings;
- Manages professional learning support services including, facility bookings, catering arrangements, and/or beverage support. Preparation of session materials, and attendance tracking;
- Prepares reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Must possess the equivalent of a high school diploma and two years of progressively responsible clerical and web-based information and communication technologies experience, OR
- AA degree in a related field.

- Respond to routine inquiries and provide appropriate referrals;
- Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and adapt to changing work demands;
- Compile reports requested by Program Manager.
Working Conditions
With or without accommodation, this position includes prolonged periods of standing or sitting, frequent walking, and occasional bending, stooping, and reaching. The employee must be able to lift, push, and pull objects up to 30 pounds. Visual and auditory abilities are required to perform essential job functions.
Other Requirements
- Must be fingerprinted and a satisfactory Department of Justice records check must be received by HCOE prior to employment.
- TB testing and/or risk assessment will be required upon employment.
