Humboldt County Office of Education: Eureka High Students Tour Construction of New Gym

Eureka High Students Tour Construction of New Gym

Eureka High Students Tour Construction of New Gym
On October 6th, 2021, Eureka High’s Architectural Design class, taught by Dave Stevens, had the opportunity to learn about the construction of the new gym on the Eureka High School Campus. The students got to see the plans, which showed all different areas of the project. Students were given an explanation of how to read the details of the plans for each of the various phases of the construction. Next was a tour of the worksite, and students were shown the work that the subcontractors were doing. Many different trades were observed on the worksite. Additionally, they learned that the skilled laborer’s prevailing wage a great way to make a living. Thank you to Mike Gram with Thompson Builders for providing the tour!

We’re excited about the potential of the Trades Academy to grow and give more local students the opportunity to connect with trades industry craftsman and businesses. The Trades Academy is a key initiative in the Education at Work effort to bridge what students learn in their classrooms to their career or higher education success. Education at Work makes the effort to include many community partners from business, government, nonprofit industry sectors, CR, HSU, and local schools. Thank you again to Dave Stevens, Mike Gram, and Thompson Builders for an amazing day supporting these Eureka High School students.
