21st Century Learning Support Coordinator

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Court and Community School (CCS) administrator and in coordination with the HCOE Technology Services Department, this position provides support, planning and design assistance to CCS and Local Educational Agencies (LEA) regarding various reporting requirements as well as software, hardware and network resolution for users. Additionally, the 21st Century Learning Support Coordinator will research, plan, and implement a wide array of advanced technology services that address instructional and non-instructional priorities for the Court and Community Schools including recommendations on policy and procedures related to information and technology. This is a classified 10-month position.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Provides instructional support to students and staff in 21st Century technology as it applies to alternative education and post-secondary transitions. This is an advanced-level position requiring a thorough understanding of computer systems, related hardware & software, and an expertise in multimedia editing and production. This position requires frequent travel to satellite schools with the ability to multitask, lead large projects, and maintain deadlines while working independently with minimal oversight.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • With oversight from certificated staff identifies instructional needs of students and staff, and independently prepares and facilitates supplemental lesson activities that integrate life skills and computer literacy,
  • Ensures alignment with the instructional goals set by credentialed educators and modifies instruction as required to meet student needs.
  • Independently facilitates individual, small group, and whole-class instructional support activities in coordination with certificated staff, ensuring alignment with teacher-directed goals and instructional plans.
  • Under the general supervision of certificated staff, supports students using established behavior support strategies and motivational techniques that are consistent with site-wide behavioral expectations or individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Administers educational assessment instruments, including CAASSP and ELPAC as the coordinator, and maintains student accounts on school-adopted platforms.
  • Assists in security inspections and data retrieval from computers and security cameras as needed.
  • Mentors students in workforce transition skills and provides career exploration opportunities
  • Maintains professional competency by actively engaging in ongoing learning related to emerging technologies—including software, hardware, and digital tools—and their application in fostering critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and digital citizenship in 21st-century educational environments.
  • Reviews and refines web content and informational materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency prior to publication or distribution, adhering to established editorial standards and branding guidelines, ADA compliance, copyright regulations and other policies and legal considerations.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance and maintain Operating System and other critical software updates.
  • Produces and edits visual content—including photography, graphic design, and digital media for school yearbooks, student identification cards, the district website, and community communications, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with organizational branding standards.
  • Manages Court and Community School’s social media accounts.
  • Serve as the Court and Serves as the CCS liaison to the HCOE Technology Services Department for any necessary support and technical assistance
  • Coordinates and supports the distribution, installation, setup, and maintenance of student and staff devices and provides technical support and training.
  • Provides informed recommendations for technology acquisitions that align with instructional and operational needs, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with public funding guidelines.
  • Maintains a comprehensive hardware and software inventory database, Develops and implements long-term maintenance and replacement protocols to ensure staff and student devices remain functional, current, and compatible with evolving educational technologies.
  • Makes recommendations and implements policies governing the use of and access to data information systems, and the storage and sharing of files. Develops and facilitates professional learning opportunities.
  • Participates in the development of Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA).

May provide oversight to volunteers, interns, and student workers in CCS related to this position

Employment Standards

Knowledge of:

  • PC and Mac-based software applications sufficient to support and deliver individual and group instruction on their effective use.
  • Protocols and procedures for setting up new equipment, troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance and hardware repair

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in operating and supporting a wide range of digital devices and software applications, including computers (PC and Mac), peripherals, mobile devices, and emerging educational technologies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles and their application to both adult and adolescent learners.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, multi-media, or a related field and four (4) years of equivalent related experience,

OR

  • Four (4) years related experience with increasing responsibilities

 Preferred:

  • Experience working in a school district or county office of education.

Working Conditions

With or without accommodation, this position includes prolonged periods of standing or sitting, frequent walking, and occasional bending, stooping, climbing stairs and reaching. The employee must be able to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds. Visual and auditory abilities are required to perform essential job functions. You must be able to operate computers and other office equipment. This position may require infrequent working hours outside normal working hours, reports to multiple work sites each day or during a single week and offer physical assistance to students who might themselves be physically impaired.

Other Requirements

  • Must be fingerprinted and a satisfactory Department of Justice records check must be received by HCOE prior to employment.
  • TB testing and/or risk assessment will be required upon employment.
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License
  • Other requirements as appropriate for the job responsibilities.
