HCOE Job Description

Expanded Learning Coordinator

    Classification: Classified

    JOB SUMMARY

    This eleven-month position reports to the Learning Support Services Department manager. The Expanded Learning Coordinator shall provide support for Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P), HCOE Consortium ASES, and 21st CCLC grant sites for Expanded Learning programming.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Plan and facilitate monthly network meetings;
    • CDE reporting, Program Plan, and MOU development/updates;
    • Support sites with annual budget development and spending requests;
    • Build capacity of Site Coordinators and maintain a system of regular communication;
    • Attend meetings with the CDE Expanded Learning Division and the Regional 1 support team; and communicate guidance to the HCOE Consortium;
    • Visit each consortium site at least annually;
    • Coordinate county-wide events;
    • Direct HCOE supplemental employees, interns, or volunteers that support related programming;
    • Research, design, and make oral presentations to small and large groups;
    • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs/training for adults and children;
    • Write grants and prepare information, statistical, and narrative reports.

    EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

     Education, Experience, and Requirements

    • Must possess a BA degree or equivalent of four years of college;
    • Experience using the computer, web-based information technologies, and communication technologies;
    • Familiarity with California Standards and frameworks;
    • Experience managing budgets;
    • Experience with State and Federal grant reporting

     Knowledge of:

    • Proper oral and written English usage;
    • Appropriate databases and software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Google Suite applications

    Ability to:

    • Work effectively independently, with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate with others in a team setting;
    • Supervise the work of others as requested;
    • Maintain meticulous records and manage program tracking;
    • Maintain confidentiality of work-related information;
    • Adapt to changing work demands, adjust priorities and meet deadlines;
    • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems;
    • Update skills and learn new computer technology as needed;
    • Set time-frames and manage priorities;
    • Work effectively under varying degrees of stress;
    • Establish and maintain effective, positive, and cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work

    Physical Abilities      

    • Sit, stand, and/or move about for extended periods.
    • Visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens.
    • Hearing and speech abilities for ordinary and telephonic conversations.
    • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

     Additional Requirements

    Learning Support Services employees must be available to work varied hours and days, Monday through Saturday, depending upon department needs
