Building our Future Workforce
The purpose of the Trades Academy is to enhance existing Career Technical Education programs and to support high school students with opportunities to explore career options available in our local trades industries.
The North Coast economy is facing a problem. Skilled tradespeople are nearing retirement age in record numbers, and there aren’t nearly enough young people coming into the trades to replace them. If we do not act to bridge this skills gap, tradespeople will become more and more scarce, and the economy and community will suffer.
By actively supporting high school Career Technical Education pathway programs, employers can bridge the connection of what is taught in the classroom to real work experiences while building a pipeline of future employees.
