The Northcoast Cal-SOAP Consortium is sponsoring a series of Cash for College workshops for graduating high school seniors and families. Financial aid experts will be available to provide free, individual, hands-on assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) CA Dream Act for eligible Assembly Bill 540 (AB 540) students, and Chafee Grant for foster youth applications.
Workshops are drop-in basis and take place in computer labs at local high schools and educational sites in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. All workshops are open to all students, not just the students at the hosting school. Spanish interpreters will be available at all workshops.
These Cash for College workshops are the result of several years of local community collaboration with college support programs, school counseling staffs, financial aid professionals, school administrators, and community volunteers to promote access to education and training beyond high school.
The Humboldt County Office of Education encourages all graduating seniors and their families to attend one or more of these Cash for College workshops to get help in completing their FAFSA, Dream Act and Chafee Grant applications, and to learn more about how they can pay for advanced training and education beyond high school graduation.
