Superintendent’s Statement on Department of Education Executive Order

EUREKA (March 20) – The Humboldt County Office of Education (HCOE) is closely monitoring proposed changes to the U.S. Department of Education. While the vast majority of school funding comes from the state and is allocated through the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), federal dollars remain essential for supporting Humboldt County’s vulnerable student populations.

At this time, we have no indication of changes or disruptions to federal funding for programs supporting students with disabilities or those from low-income families. Regardless of how funds are allocated, HCOE remains committed to supporting all of Humboldt County’s students in our 31 Districts and 15 Charters. We will continue to track developments as more information becomes available. For more information on Local Control Accountability Plans go to https://hcoe.org/lcap/
