Paulette Gilliam Humboldt County Spelling Bee
The Humboldt County Office of Education County Spelling Bee has been supporting spellers in 4th – 9th grades for more than 30 years. Spelling Bees promote the love of language and vocabulary. Students not only study words and their origins, but also have the opportunity to advance to national competition.
2024-2025 Timeline
- January 17, 2025: Deadline for School Bees
- February 14, 2025: Deadline for Region Bees
- February 27, 2025: County Bee at Sequoia Conference Center
- May 2025 – Bee Week: Our County Bee winner will go to Washington DC for the Scripps National Spelling Bee!
In 2024, the Humboldt County Spelling Bee was renamed in honor of longtime coordinator Paulette Gilliam.
