Requirements to Work as a Classified Para Educator Substitute

To qualify as a classified substitute aide, you must either:

Option 1: Pass the Paraprofessional Exam

  • The exam is administered weekly at HCOE on Tuesdays at 10 a.m
  • Register for the exam here.

Option 2: Complete College Coursework

  • At least 48 semester units of college coursework
  • Verified by official transcripts

Requirements to Work as a Certificated Substitute Teacher
